With a direct flight from Europe or North America, no vaccinations are required.
We recommend vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus, measles and hepatitis A, in addition and for those at risk, vaccination against hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies, influenza and pneumococcus.
In general, Costa Rica is malaria-free. There is a low risk in the province of Limón, but a mosquito repellent is important! The Central Valley and the rest of the country is malaria-free.
If you come from some yellow fever endemic areas of South America or Africa, a vaccine against yellow fever is required.
For travelers, the only way to prevent dengue is a good mosquito repellent. For more information visit the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Seccion Health Information for Travelers to Costa Rica.
