Liberia is the economic center for the region of Guanacaste and the International Airport Daniel Oduber besides regional flights connected directly to Toronto, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Newark, London and Minneapolis. Situated 10 kilometers south of Liberia you are already in Africa with zebras, affes, antelopes in the Africa Safari Adventure Park.
Nicoya is a hub for transport to various beaches along the Pacific as Playa Samara or Playa Nosara and since the bridge over the Rio Tempisque was completed years ago expanding the whole region benefiting from a growing number of tourists.
Santa Cruz, the folkloristic city is less than 30 minutes away from the best beaches of the country. The "Santacrucenos" celebrates every January the fiestas Civicas Nacionales, a cultural event of a special kind.
Bagaces belong to the Palo Verde National Park, the Biological Reserve Lomas Barbudal, half from the nature reserve of Miravalles, the Private Reserve La Virgen and a small part of the Rincón De La Vieja National Park.
The Gulf of Papagayo, Playa Hermosa, Playa Panamá, Playa del Coco, Ocotal and Guacamaya are the most famous tourist destinations in this region. For archaeologists, the areas of Carillo and Filadelfia are of great interest.
In recent years, several Banderas Azules was assigned to Hojancha! These awards of Cruz Roja and the state water supply Aya, get communities for environmental protection projects and the Playa Carilllo was in 2015 again awarded with the Bandera Azul.
